TRON super representative, is it "hype"? Or is it a new round of "cutting leeks" game?

Justin Sun, who had been missing for several months, has returned. After his return, he frequently expressed his goodwill to the public through the media and vigorously described the future and prospects of TRON. It’s nothing more than hoping to convey “I am serious about blockchain. ”idea, but with little success.

On April 19, he published an open letter on Twitter and Weibo, stating that the TRON super representative election will be held on June 26, 2018. In addition, TRON also launched an event to give away 1,000 ETH.

As soon as the news came out, doubts came from all sides. Many people regarded this as another "hype" by Justin Sun? Many people also think this is Sun Yuchen’s new round of “cutting leeks” game? More people question whether the "TRON Super Representative" is reliable?

Let’s take a look at some netizens’ comments first:

Thinking about Justin Sun's work style and TRON's recent performance, Justin Sun does give people an unreliable impression.

From Justin Sun’s open letter, we can see two pieces of information: On June 21, 2018, TRON will complete the mainnet token migration. On June 26, 2018, 27 TRON Super Representatives will be elected to represent TRON’s more than one million supporters. At the same time, the more than 30 billion TRX locked by the foundation will not participate in voting. However, in the open letter, Tron did not provide specific election rules.

When it comes to TRON super representatives, it is easy to think of the EOS super node election. We can use the following analysis to see whether TRON super representatives are feasible? Is it really reliable?

Let’s first look at the threshold for participation.

Talking about blockchain cannot be separated from the consensus mechanism. There are actually many types of consensus algorithms. The most commonly mentioned one currently is the consensus algorithm called POW used by Bitcoin and Ethereum, which is an information guarantee algorithm based on proof of work. However, the POW algorithm has the problem of wasting a lot of computing power. The consensus mechanisms of EOS and TRON are DPOS and TPOS algorithms respectively.

DPOS (Delegated Proof of Stake), a share authorization mechanism, means that nodes elect a number of agents, who verify and keep accounts, thus reducing the number of verification and nodes, and achieving second-level consensus verification. According to the entry threshold previously announced by the EOS team, the cost of using an Amazon AWSEC 2 host x1.32x large server alone is as high as 969,000 yuan a year, and as the transaction volume of EOS increases, bandwidth costs will also increase.

On top of the POS algorithm, TRON proposed the TPOS algorithm, which means a mode of voting for working nodes based on the number of owners. The nodes appointed by voting are responsible for operating and packaging. Once a bad block or failure occurs, there will be a mechanism to ensure automatic switching to other nodes to achieve a smooth transition. Currently, TRON also adopts this consensus model as the infrastructure of its platform. Users only need to become a node in the TRON network and participate in the "Super Representative" program to receive benefits. And the investment cost of all this is only one server.

Comparing the two, TRON has a low threshold for participation and clearly has certain advantages.

Let’s take a look at the returns from participating in the election.

The rewards for super nodes are: 1. 1% of the total amount of additional tokens issued to nodes every year; 2. The total number of additional issuances shall not exceed the number of new tokens generated each year and shall not exceed 5% of the token issue. ; 3. Based on the current market price, each node will have an annual income of no less than 30 million yuan (calculated based on a price of US$11).

Let’s take a look at super representatives. The rewards for super representatives are: 1. A total of 1,009,152,000 TRX will be awarded to super representatives every year ; 2. These reward tokens are borne by the Tron Fund ; 3. Converted at current prices, each represents an income of about 12 million yuan. (Based on price $0.05)

It seems that whether they are super nodes or super representatives, in addition to enjoying generous annual rewards and returns, they also have great control rights, which has also triggered fierce competition among the "big bookmakers".

But if you look at the comparison in the table below, regardless of the total market value of circulation, current price, or total token issuance and circulation rate, the returns of EOS super nodes are more stable and more valuable. The gold content of TRON super representatives is much lower, and the uncertainty is much higher.

Next, let’s compare the quantity and quality of participating TRON super representatives and EOS super nodes.

According to last week’s EOS fifth election report data, there are currently as many as 55 companies participating in the super node election. These 55 super nodes are located all over the world, especially in the United States, China, and South Korea. Among the projects in China participating in the election for super nodes, there is no lack of support from industry leaders and investors such as Xue Manzi, Li Xiaolai, Lao Mao, Yi Lihua, and Prince Gong.

On the other hand, there are currently only more than ten institutions participating in the super representative election, including Chaoxuan READ, Bixin, MDT, Bitcoin God Community, LINKVC, AntPool, and Node Capital. The most famous one is Ant Pool. Among them, Ant Pool also participated in the super node election. It is worth mentioning that Justin Sun himself will also participate in the election.

Although compared with EOS super nodes, TRON super representatives are obviously much weaker. But the domineering president Sun Yuchen is definitely a marketing master, and he is also willing to spend money. Maybe it will bring a bright future for TRON super representatives.

However, how to make TRON truly come to fruition and gain public recognition is the real test that Justin Sun faces. He needs to do something nice and practical to prove himself. Just "talking" won't do anything.

You might as well take a look here. Justin Sun has designed 27 super representatives for TRON. If the number of projects in the election is not up to standard! Or are there not enough projects in the campaign or not good enough? That's really ridiculous.
