Justin Sun: All the way west, "fool" to the end!

Sun Justin is famous again. The routine is the same as always: use the money you got from cutting leeks to treat Buffett to roasted kidneys, make countless headlines, get traffic, and then harvest more leeks. Money rules the world, and the winner is king.

Justin Sun is popular again.

The routine is the same as always: use the money you got from cutting leeks to treat Buffett to roasted kidneys, make countless headlines, get traffic, and then harvest more leeks.

Money rules the world, and the winner is king.

Justin Sun considers himself extremely successful. An old feud between him and Wang Xiaochuan was also brought out. One time, while recording a program, Wang Xiaochuan called him a liar, which was quite contemptuous.

Nowadays, Sun Yuchen, who has learned his shame and gained courage, feels proud and proud, and laughs at Wang Xiaochuan from afar.

Wang Xiaochuan stayed at Wudaokou for 14 years, fought wits and courage with Zhang Chaoyang, rejected Zhou Hongyi, and joined forces with Ma Huateng, and finally took Sogou public. However, the stock price was not strong enough. The current market value is 1.644 billion U.S. dollars. He holds 5.5% of the shares, and his net worth is about 90 million U.S. dollars.

In the impetuous venture capital circle, Wang Xiaochuan's input-output ratio is slightly bleak.

On the other hand, Justin Sun created the blockchain project "TRON" in July 2017 and issued 100 billion TRON coins for the first time. On January 5, 2018, he sold 6 billion TRON coins and cashed out US$300 million in one day.

No wonder Sun Yuchen becomes arrogant when he succeeds.

But in Wang Xiaochuan's view, market value and net worth are just clouds. He angrily said: What is success? What is a liar?

Good question.

So, who pushed the "liar" all the way to "success"?

1

Peking University is Sun Yuchen’s first label.

According to his autobiography: He was born in Qinghai and moved to Huizhou four years ago. He had a strict mother who hoped that his son would succeed. He was very miserable when he was young. In order to train his eloquence, he took MLM classes and went to Wuhan to study for three years in order to take a shortcut in Go.

After all failed, he returned home and his parents divorced.

Later, his mother remarried abroad, his father became an alcoholic, and there was a rift between father and son. He became obsessed with games and skipped classes, and his grades plummeted. When I entered Huizhou No. 1 Middle School, I usually only had enough mock test scores for three books.

But he thought of a shortcut: extra points in the new concept essay contest.

The New Concept Essay Contest is a nationally influential essay contest organized by "Sprout" magazine.

In 1998, "Sprouting" magazine joined forces with Peking University, Fudan University, East China Normal University, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Shandong University, and Xiamen University to launch the "New Concept Essay Contest" to face the new century and cultivate new talents.

"Sprouting" magazine originally had little influence in the industry, but the editor-in-chief at the time, Zhao Changtian, was so imaginative that he organized such a competition, which was in line with a trend: Since the end of 1997, public opinion circles have paid great attention to middle school Chinese education.

“Poor student Han Han stood out through the new concept essay competition and became a symbol of rebellion against exam-oriented education and the college entrance examination.

Most of the students who won the first prize in the New Concept Essay Contest were admitted to prestigious schools without taking exams or with extra points. For example, Guo Jingming, the first prize winner of the 34th session, went to Greater Shanghai as he wished.

Looking back 20 years later, Hao Jingfang and Zhang Jiawei are the only winners of the New Concept Essay Contest who are still active in the literary world and have made achievements. The others have either changed careers or become screenwriters.

As the biggest V on Zhihu, Zhang Jiawei has also been in trouble recently. He was accused of plagiarism, and Zhihu had to use coercive means to block opposition voices.

It seems that the New Concept Essay Contest is poisonous, and most people who become famous through it cannot get rid of the "hat" of plagiarism.

Guo Jingming won’t mention it. Is Han Han's "Three Gates" ghostwritten or "Rashomon"? And Justin Sun also has a history of plagiarism.

It cannot be denied that Sun Yuchen is a smart thief. He will take the path that is easiest for him to succeed. After taking a few steps and finding that the path is blocked, he will immediately change paths and never drag his feet.

When he discovered that there was a secret to the New Concept Essay Contest, he concentrated on thinking about it and found that the winning essay actually had a routine: pretending to be sharp, being profound, and pretending to be young and mature.

After figuring out the rules, Sun Yuchen worked hard to submit, and was rejected three times, but finally entered the semi-finals for the fourth time. According to his nature, if it doesn't work the fourth time, he might find another way.

But there are no ifs in life.

With the first prize in the New Concept Essay Contest, he qualified for the Peking University Independent Admissions Interview and received 20 extra points.

In the next year, he studied hard and his score soared from 459 to 650, and he was finally admitted to Peking University.

Admittedly, despite the bonus points, he has a pretty high IQ.

2

In the autumn of 2007, Sun Yuchen entered the Chinese Department of Peking University.

But at the end of his freshman year, he was demoted and transferred to the history department. A friend said, “This is because it’s hard to get ahead in the Chinese department, and no matter how hard you work, your ranking will only be average. ”

In other words, the History Department of Peking University is easier to learn than the Chinese Department.

In the 2017 Double First-Class Discipline Selection, Peking University’s History Department was the only one with three winning bids, while Peking University’s Chinese Department only won two bids.

It can be seen that the History Department of Peking University has stronger academic strength than the Chinese Department of Peking University.

Even so, Sun Yuchen still finds it strange that it is easier to get high scores in the history department.

It can only be said that today's students have become utilitarian. All the top scorers in the college entrance examination are flocking to departments such as Guanghua School of Management where money is easy to make. Literature, history and philosophy cannot recruit good students.

The tallest among short men. Perhaps, the student pool of Peking University’s Chinese Department is slightly better than that of Peking University’s History Department. Sun Yuchen, who had average grades in the Chinese Department of Peking University, jumped to the first place in grade point after switching to the History Department of Peking University and maintained it until graduation.

Of course, he also has his own "routine."

During one lunch, he spent about half an hour "teaching" the reporter of "GQ" how to rank first. One of my thoughts is: “The exams in the history department account for a small amount of points, and the papers are the major part. Communicate more with the teacher and become familiar with it. Before submitting the paper officially, let him take a look at it and make some suggestions, and then I will revise it. Can the score be different? ”Every time he chooses a course, he must get the teacher's mobile phone number and email. "If something goes wrong, at least we can find the person responsible." He raised the corners of his mouth and stretched out four fingers: "In my impression, at least 4 courses were originally scored below 85. After asking the teacher, the score was changed to above 85. ”

What a slap in the face.

I feel that the conduct of some teachers in the History Department of Peking University is worrying.

Once upon a time, the history department was the flagship of Peking University. Now it is not only exploited by students from our own school, but even students from other schools roll their eyes.

In 2015, an open letter "Sun Jiazhou, a professor of history at Renmin University, severed the teacher-student relationship with newly recruited master's students" was widely circulated on the Internet and sparked heated discussions.

Sun Jiazhou is a professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of History of Renmin University, and the vice president of the China Qin and Han History Research Association. He stated in the open letter that Hao Xianghe made "unwarranted mockery" of Yan Buke, a professor of the Department of History of Peking University, and Han Shufeng, a professor of the School of History of Renmin University, in WeChat Moments.

In fact, Hao Xianghe not only ridiculed Yan Buke, but also ridiculed the history department of Peking University as "garbage."

Universities are like people. People who don’t respect themselves will be insulted by others.

3

In other words, Sun Yuchen completed his "transformation" in the History Department of Peking University.

In the autumn of 2009, he went to the Chinese University of Hong Kong as an exchange student. After one semester, he returned to Peking University. His classmates discovered that not only had his clothes improved, but his thoughts had also become radical, and he was active in campus clubs and Renren.com.

In the summer of 2010, he announced that he would run for president of the Peking University Student Union as an independent candidate, building momentum like crazy. But he didn't show up on election day, claiming to be "temporarily controlled" by the school.

People around him said that he knew he had no chance of winning, but deliberately hyped it up, broke his promise before the battle, and packaged himself as a "victim" to gain sympathy.

This trick works every time. After losing the election, he went to "Southern Weekend" as an intern in 2010. He imitated Hu Shi and founded the "Weekly Review" to comment on current affairs on campus. At the end of each article, he added an extra line and signed: "Sun Yuchen works in the News Department of Southern Weekend", which became a hit at Peking University.

He writes whatever attracts attention, specifically to stir up public emotions. If it were put today, it would definitely be worth a hundred thousand dollars.

I have to say that his choice to intern at "Southern Weekend" was a brilliant move.

The Southern Department is a unique existence and is highly recognizable. Give two examples.

In 2001, the Taiwan authorities invited a group of mainland media to set up press stations on the other side of the Taiwan Strait. In addition to high-level official media such as Xinhua News Agency and People's Daily, market-oriented media include Southern Metropolis Daily and Straits Metropolis Daily.

It’s easy to understand when inviting official media; "Straits Metropolis Daily" is the most popular local citizen newspaper in Fujian. Many Taiwanese compatriots are of Fujian descent, so it is not difficult for the newspaper to be invited. ; As for Southern Metropolis Daily, it can only be attributed to journalistic professionalism.

Of course, in the end, due to various policy restrictions, Southern Metropolis Daily did not set up a reporter station in Taiwan.

Also, when Obama visited China in 2009, he specified that he wanted to be interviewed by Caijing and Southern Weekend. This confirms the influence of these two media from the side.

The editor-in-chief of Caijing at the time was Hu Shuli, and she found an excuse to decline. "Southern Weekend" editor-in-chief Xiang Xi and three other people got on a special car from the U.S. Embassy and came to Obama's hotel where they conducted an exclusive interview for 12 minutes.

That was the highlight moment in the history of "Southern Weekend". A year later, Sun Yuchen came for an internship and finally caught up with Yu Wen.

In fact, not only "Southern Weekend" but also practitioners from the entire southern department have a very high success rate when applying for overseas scholarship programs.

At the end of 2010, because he was worried about being expelled from Peking University, Sun Yuchen applied to graduate a year early and got an offer from the University of Pennsylvania majoring in East Asian Studies.

4

Just before going to the United States, Sun Yuchen's first peak in his life arrived.

In July 2011, he appeared on the cover of Asia Weekly together with Jiang Fangzhou, who was studying at Tsinghua University at the time. Above the photo of the two people are two lines of large characters: "Eggs laid by China's post-90s elite Internet."

Jiang Fangzhou is also quite interesting. He was born in the third-tier city of Xiangfan. He was trained by his literary mother since childhood. He started writing at the age of 7 and published a collection of essays at the age of 9. He became a talented writer and passed all the exams. In 2004, he won the first prize of the China Young Writers Cup. In 2008, he was admitted to Tsinghua University with a 60-point discount.

A while ago, Tsinghua University announced that it would cancel liberal arts recruitment.

Please note that Asia Weekly is not Time.

Everyone knows that "Time Magazine" is super awesome. If you can be on the cover, you are simply a fighter among the best.

Time Magazine has an Asian edition. In recent years, we often say that so-and-so is on the cover of Time Magazine. In fact, it is the cover of the Asian version. Of course it is also great, but it is a few levels behind.

"Asia Weekly" is the magazine that competes with the Asian version of "Times". It was founded in Hong Kong by the editors of the "Far Eastern Economic Review" and started with a purely English version.

In 1991, Ming Pao Group obtained control of the Chinese version of Asia Weekly. After 10 years, the English version of Asia Weekly closed.

Therefore, what Sun Yuchen appeared in was the Chinese version of Asia Weekly, and the author was Zhang Jieping.

Zhang Jieping received a bachelor's degree in economics from Sun Yat-sen University and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Hong Kong in his early years. He later worked for Asia Weekly. In recent years, she is best known as the editor-in-chief of "End Media".

Now it seems that as a senior media person, the article she wrote about Sun Yuchen is actually "unqualified". The entire article is Sun Yuchen's personal self-narration, without interviews with relevant people, and there is no cross-verification.

According to "GQ Zhizu", Zhang Jieping's explanation was that the initial operating idea was to write about the college student group on Renren.com, not Sun Yuchen personally. However, due to time constraints, I adjusted it to write about one or two relatively famous representative figures to bring out the story of the entire group. “I don’t want my narrative to be kidnapped by his own discussion, but it’s difficult to analyze and process in detail, so I just let it be presented as it is. ”

It was such an accidental event that made Justin Sun successful. He was no longer a nameless passerby in the collective, but became a representative of the post-90s generation. This label will be the foundation of all his subsequent stories.

No coincidence.

Mao Kankan, who committed suicide in January 2018, appeared on the cover of "Chinese Entrepreneur" magazine along with Li Xiang, Dai Zhikang and Gao Ran as representatives of post-80s entrepreneurs.

Later, according to the author of that article, he actually made appointments with many people before the interview, but only Mao Kankan came to the appointment on time that night, so he finally had to write his story.

Mao Kankan was suddenly elevated to the "sacred altar" and never came down again.

This is fate.

The gifts of fate are secretly exchanged. Sun Yuchen has not yet realized that after the release of "Asia Weekly", he changed his user name on Renren.com to "Justin Sun | Asia Weekly Cover Person".

5

Sun Yuchen, who had tasted the benefits of taking the wrong approach, continued to take the wrong approach after going to the United States. About a month after arriving in the United States, he started the online magazine "New New Youth" based on the "New Youth" founded by Chen Duxiu.

At home, he imitated Hu Shi. Abroad, he imitated Chen Duxiu.

Who said history is like smoke. The tricks played by the sages nearly a hundred years ago are still timeless.

But this time Justin Sun messed up. Half a month later, a Princeton University graduate published a long diary on Renren, accusing Sun of plagiarism. She demanded a public apology from Justin Sun.

After a few days of silence, Sun Yuchen posted a long post, to the effect that if there is any similarity, it is a coincidence and I will never apologize.

Quite Guo Jingming's style.

A few years ago, when Guo Jingming invited him to participate in a literary competition, he felt insulted and mocked Guo's works as "a piece of shit."

As everyone knows, they are essentially the same type of people.

A few years later, in an interview, Sun Yuchen admired Guo Jingming very much and praised his method of success.

Sun Yuchen majored in East Asia, commonly known as "Chinese Studies", and it was easy to become famous and start a family. But after falling into the plagiarism scandal, my reputation is considered bankrupt, and it is very passive to continue learning.

Starting in 2012, he began to take courses at Wharton Business School, joined the Investment Association, and participated in internship interviews with investment banks and fund companies.

He wants to make a lot of money.

So what if you become famous and have a family? The annual salary of a master like Yu Yingshi is only US$100,000, which is not as good as that of a newcomer on Wall Street.

After entering the investment circle, Sun Yuchen bought Tesla stocks and speculated in Bitcoin. It is said that he made a fortune. The exact amount is not accurate. He has given different opinions in different interviews. He may have made a profit of 40 to 50 times, or a profit of 70 to 80 times, or made tens of millions.

Considering that he is a poor student with limited capital, even if the floating profit is 100 times, the final pot of gold won will not be too much.

It's hard for Americans to make money.

6

Since the United States is not easy to get along with, then go back to China. China is full of hot money.

After returning to China, Sun Yuchen accepted an exclusive interview with CCTV.com. The reporter asked: “As a leader among post-90s entrepreneurs, how do you evaluate China’s current entrepreneurial environment? ”

He smiled and said: "China's entrepreneurial environment is the best in the world, there is no 'one'. ”

It really is the best.

With the halo of being a representative of the post-90s generation, and under the banner of blockchain, he was spotted and blessed by IDG. IDG was announcing the establishment of the "IDG Post-90s Fund" at that time.

In China, IDG and Sequoia Capital are synonymous with VC.

Before 2005, IDG became famous because of its accurate shots on Zhang Chaoyang, Robin Li and Ma Huateng. In 2005, Sequoia Capital was established and has successively invested in companies such as JD.com, Qihoo 360, Vipshop, Jumei Youpin, Lefeng.com, Dianping, and Ele.me.

Sequoia Capital began to overshadow IDG. Especially in the e-commerce field, Sequoia Capital has almost everything, and IDG has almost countless.

IDG is of course anxious and must seize a new track.

This new track is Internet finance. As early as 2011, Sequoia Capital already had PPT related to "Internet Finance". However, over the next four years, IDG came from behind.

According to a report by Tencent Technology in 2015, in the field of Internet finance, Sequoia Capital has invested in more than 20 companies, Matrix Partners China has invested in about 16 companies, and IDG has invested in about 35 companies.

In addition, IDG has also invested in many post-90s entrepreneurial projects, hoping to discover the next generation of "BAT" among them.

Justin Sun, a star born in the 1990s, returned to China with a blockchain project and hit it off with IDG.

In March 2015, Justin Sun was listed on the 2015 Forbes China's 30 Entrepreneurs Under 30 list for his contribution to the distributed clearing network. The judges include Shen Nanpeng of Sequoia Capital, Xu Xiaoping of ZhenFund, Li Feng of IDG, Xu Chuansheng of Matrix Partners, Tu Hongchuan of Plateau Capital, Cao Darong of Lightspeed China, Wang Huai of Linear Capital, etc.

The distributed clearing network is the core point of the blockchain. Justin Sun contributed to this, that's a hell of a deal. In terms of contribution, perhaps it is the promotion of the concept of digital currency.

But that doesn't prevent him from being on the list. Just look at the list of judges and you’ll see why.

IDG is Sun Yuchen's financial backer. Sequoia Capital, Zhen Fund, Matrix Partners China, etc. are all advocates of Internet finance. They use a "symbol" to stimulate the public and make huge profits.

This was quickly added to his Baidu Encyclopedia entry by Justin Sun.

7

In March 2015, Sun Yuchen was selected into the first batch of "Hupan University" and was the only one born in the 1990s.

As soon as he was selected, "Jack Ma's youngest disciple" appeared in his Baidu Encyclopedia entry.

The following is spoken by Justin Sun:

I received the interview notice on January 16th and was informed that I would go to Hangzhou for an interview on January 26th.

The interview was held at the Hangzhou Sheraton Hotel. The lobby corridor was filled with 20-inch portraits of 48 of us. Eight school directors including Jack Ma, Feng Lun, Guo Guangchang, Shi Yuzhu, Shen Guojun, Qian Yingyi, Cai Hongbin, and Shao Xiaofeng, who are the most outstanding business school lineup in history, all attended.

The 48 people were divided into six groups, with eight people in each group. The school directors conducted group interviews and single interviews respectively.

……

What impressed me deeply was that Feng Lun asked me this question: "You are very young now. If you succeed in starting a business in the future, what do you want to do?" ”

I told him: “The reason why I started a business is because I realized that entrepreneurs are the fundamental force that maintains the rotation of this country and even society. They not only create value for consumers, pay taxes, and promote employment, but more importantly, they promote business civilization. In addition to the success of starting a business, I hope to promote the development of business civilization and the cultivation of entrepreneurship. ”

“"Business civilization" and "entrepreneurial spirit" are so beautiful to say. But judging from Sun's subsequent behavior, he is a typical "two-faced man".

Knowing and employing people is a unique skill of the big guys, and the interviewers at "Lakeside University" are not very discerning.

But what is less known is that IDG is also behind Sun Yuchen’s enrollment. He once confessed to Tencent Technology that in order to help him successfully become the first batch of students at Lakeside University, Xiong Xiaoge (IDG founding partner) wrote a recommendation letter for him. This was the real magic weapon for him to pass the personal interview with eight high-profile school directors.

hehe.

As Justin Sun's Baidu Encyclopedia entries get longer and longer, he is packaged as more and more successful, his stories become more and more magical, and more and more people take over the "air coins" he issues.

Liar or winner? Everyone's perspective is different, and their evaluations are naturally different.

But in just a few years, Justin Sun has been like "holding a kitchen knife to chop wires, sparks and lightning along the way." Who made him?

This is more worthy of reflection than blind ridicule.
